Power Outage on May 29, 2025
Chestnut Street Power Outage on Thursday, May 29th
Central Lincoln PUD informed the district that there will be a planned outage tomorrow, May 29th from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday morning. In the past a loss of power meant that those customers above Orchard on Chestnut would lose water pressure resulting in a boil water notice. Our lead operator has a plan to avoid a boil water notice this time around.
Matt will be running a portable diesel generator to operate the boost pump during the outage. This will result in some noise around the Orchard/Chestnut intersection, though the generator will be enclosed in the vault which should limit the effect on nearby neighbors.
This is something new for current staff. It should work—in theory. But there may be a gap between theory and practice. We’ll have to see. However, there are a few things customers above Orchard Avenue can do to help:
· Stop using water for planned activities by 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. This means washing dishes and doing laundry earlier in the day or waiting until Friday to start. Shower earlier in the evening.
· Turn off any night-time automatic irrigation system temporarily.
· Monitor the district’s website and Facebook page for updates once power has been restored.
While this is a temporary solution, the district and operations team are working on a long-term solution for backup power for the boost pump during loss of power.
